Sue’s vacation was going great until she got off the plane in Hawaii. Almost immediately, she noticed the symptoms of a yeast infection (vaginitis) coming on. How could this be happening to her again? It seems like every time Sue went on a trip she got a yeast infection. Most of the time, if she got it diagnosed, it was Candidas albicansis. But maybe it is an allergy. Maybe she could cut out eating yeast bread’s. What to do? Sue decided to interrupt her vacation for more than an over the counter anti-fungal drug. She went to the clinic with the goal to get to the bottom of this. You meet Sue at the clinic where you are in charge that evening. What advice do you have for Sue? How are vaginal yeast infections most commonly acquired? What are the symptoms and how would that differ from an allergy? What should she do to reduce the chances of getting another yeast infection? Will cutting out eating bread have an effect?
