There are various reasons why an organization uses project management standard. These standard integrate various project management tools and techniques into a single system and can help project managers immensely. The benefit is not only enjoyed by the project manager but also by the project team members, partners, and other stakeholders. While the benefits can be numerous we can easily identify some of the common benefits that every project team obtains from the use of project management standards.

The first benefit that we readily see is the standardization of project dimensions. Various elements of the project such as the definitions, terms, variables, etc. that relates to the project becomes standardized. For example, if we use a term such as earned value, then it is understood by nearly all key stakeholder what I means. This is the benefit of standardization. The next benefit that teams see is the increase in reliability and dependability. When a project team uses standardization, various tools and techniques become the norm. These tried and tested methods provide information that are reliable and dependable. Standardized system also allows the project to be integrated with other tools and projects. This is another key benefit of the project standardization.
