1Nell, my roommate, has a King Tut glitter pyramid on her desk, and when anyone sees it, they can’t resist picking it up and shaking it. 2It is modeled along the lines of those plastic snow globes that you see in stores around Christmas. 3The difference is that they put a golden replica of Tutankhamen, the boy king, inside a plastic pyramid. 4It is filled with glittery flakes and, like golden sand, it spreads out to the four corners of the pyramid. 5Nell turns the pyramid upside down and lets all of the glitter collect at the top of the pyramid; then you flip it quickly. 6This sends a golden stream of glitter onto the boy king’s head. 7When the pyramid is shaken, flakes of gold rise and swirl, and it hides Tut’s face. 8Nell says her little pyramid is practical as well as entertaining because they make good paperweights.
