Hobbes’ view on the natural condition of human beings—the so-called “state of nature.” Hobbes sees our natural condition as being one of constant conflict, a “war of every man against every man.” Why does he think this? Is he right? Or do you agree with those who think that people are born naturally very peaceful and cooperative and something else makes them more aggressive and violent? What evidence can you offer in support of your view?

I agree with Hobbes that people in their natural state are brutal and selfish. There would be no laws and regulations to order people and this would mean that people if there is no one to regulate people they would end up in killing each other leading to chaos and confusion. It would be like the survival of the fittest where only the powerful would dominate. Thus, it’s very important to have a central control to establish order and peace.
