High grade fevers in humans 103 degrees or higher are of concern, and medical care should be obtained. Explain why, based on your understanding of enzyme function.

Enzymes have a narrow range of temperature and pH in which they can function. Any change beyond their tolerance can affect their activity. Normal human body temperature is around 37 degree celsius. Increase in temperature during fever can be upto 40-41 degree celsius (102-104 degree fahrenheit). This increase in temperature denatures the protein (enzyme) structure. The enzyme loses its function as it will no longer have specific active sites for substrate to bind. This will result in disrupted metabolism and can ultimately be fatal.
