1) PUE , i.e power usage effectiveness is a ratio that states the amount of energy generated which is further utilized by various advanced computing machines which simplify a complex calculation within few seconds.
2) It is imperative to comprehensively modify and rectify the entire power grid structure within the scope of PUE so as to terminate any loss or more consumption of energy which reduces the efficiency of a data center.
3) Ideally as low as possible . To standardize the ratio , managers should work rigorously to maintain the PUE levels in between 1.02 to 1.08 .
4) methods recommended are as follows -
a) integrate servers - mergering multiple servers into one can possibly make servers efficient and further reduction in the percentage of energy consumption.
b) hot aisle and cold aisle layout - by racking the servers in a way that their back face each other reduces the mix up of hot and cold air which disrupts efficiency.
c) temperature of the date center - keeping the temperature and humidity ideally between 65°F to 80°F helps in effective data transmission.
d) structure data - organizing and structuring the data helps in avoiding unnecessary wastage of storage spaces.
e) defective servers - getting rid of malfunctioning servers would help in saving energy and cost.
5) As per the recent reports , the data centers have consumed around 3% of the total global electricity consumption and have surprisingly contributed about 2% in the greenhouse gas emissions.
6) several prominent factors include :
a) online streaming
b) enhancement in technology
c) cloud computing
7) High date power consumption will be in the developing countries as there is a need for introduction of new advanced technology and so as the need for infrastructure which must be inbuilt with the needed power delivery networks.
8) With co-operation comes progress. many instances of absolute emergencies were coped with cooperation around the globe which saw everyone being uplifted out of the mishap . In my opinion the company shall strive to share its technology with other competitors as it would help in reducing the greenhouse gas emissions , also would assist the developing countries in forming an environment with the help of a sustainable technology.
9) The government shall regulate the emissions from the date centers by imposing strict fines and penalties for violating the codes and the procedure laid down under in order to process, function and operate the date centers. Also by encouraging the market to provide respite by the government to those who could produce more cleaner, safer and sustainable mode of data transmission.
