Problem Statement:
In our home we use a lot of electrical equipment like TV, Freeze, Washing machine, Mp3 player, music system, and computer/laptop. But we don’t have adequate knowledge to use these electrical equipments in a proper/efficient way. Due to this ignorance, we are paying more electricity bill.
According to the energy auditors, we can easily save between 5 to 10% of energy consumption (and costs) by changing our behavior such as switching off electrical equipment rather than leaving it on standby, turning off lights when they’re not being used, etc.
Today’s major appliances don’t hog energy the way older models do because they must meet minimum federal energy efficiency standards. These standards have been tightened over the past few years, so any new appliance you buy today has to use less energy than the model you’re replacing. For instance, if you buy one of today’s most energy-efficient refrigerators, it will use less than half the energy of a model that’s 12 years old.
Big load chunks are:
Smallest loads can be taken as mosquito repeller, cell phone charger etc.
Activities: Bill Calculations
1) 2 A.C each of 1 ton capacity 1000 watts each run for 6 hours a day 6 months a year
2) 1 water supply motor 1000 watts run for 2 hours daily
3) 1 iron 2000 watts run for 2 hours 7 days a month
4) 5 tube lights each of 100 watts run for 8 hours daily
6) Electricity heater of 3000 watts runs for 4 hours daily for 3 months each year
7) TV of 200 watts runs for 10 hours daily each year
8) Light loads (chargers and stand by appliances) 50 watts whole day each year
9) 4 each of 120 watts fans running 6 hours on average per day for 6 months
10) Fridge 800 watts running 12 hours per day with tripping gaps for 6 months plus running 4 hours per day for next six months
Question:
PLEASE DO IT FAST
Hint: Mentioning the company name and price for any proposed energy efficient product will attract good marks
Here I calculated the cost per month and annually,I have also recommended some of the equipment and some other optimal situations like how much time should we use a machine/when should we switch off or unplug so that we can save energy and we can save up to 46% by its optimal usage. Please refer the following calculations. Please make use of it.Cross check before submission.Up vote if u understood it.Thanks in Advance.
