Hi guys, I just a quick question. so what type or what are the common applications we can use Gaussian random variable for in Electrical Engineering with a little explanation of each please?
and thank you in advance!
The Gaussian random variable is mainly used in communication to model noise.
Exp: consider a receiver whose input is zero (no received signal) but due to noise, it may be receiving small millivolts of input randomly. When we plot the probability density function of that received signal(when no input is present) ..we find a Gaussian curve with mean 0. This suggests that, for the input random noise, most probable value is zero. And the spread of curve suggests the variance of noise i.e, how much the input noise is varying around zero.
For understanding Gaussian random variable in general, you can also consider the most common example, heights of people.
When we plot pdf of heights., the mean of the curve would lie around 6 feet. And heights just above and just below will be having same probability of existence. This suggests that most people are around 6 feet height and as height decreases or increases, number people also decreases(there wont be many adults of 4 feet height or 7feet height)
Kindly upvote if you find it helpful. Thanks

Quick question with performing a regression in excel. So, I have already performed the necessary analysis, but my instructor is asking me for the mean values of the variables? Are these the coefficient estimates of the variables? (I.e. if I have a variable BB and its coefficient is -0.056 according to excel)? If not, what is he talking about? Please help! Thank you
