The cultural practices of a client and society if the environment that one is from can affect the way in which they utilize the mental and community health services. For example, an individual who comes from a culture where mental health issues have a string social stigma attached to it will be less likely to access and get help. Another example would be cultural practices which contradicts with modern medicine, that is various cultures believe that prayer and indigenous medicine is better than modern medicine and surgery even when it may be beyond it's expertise and application.
