a) Inattentive is often described as an action of forgetfulness or disengagement from a communication. When a person does not pay attention and does not hear a certain communication, the person is known to be inattentive in nature. Students often become inattentive in their class. Corporate professionals often get inattentive during the meeting. For example, Staring blankly at the window during a class is a sign of lack of attention among students.
b) The content which is being heard by us during a communication is termed as hearing content. For example, Monthly sales target heard by a sales person during a meeting is termed as hearing content. The content of hearing can be random data which may not be useful for us or useful information.
People tends to assume something from the content they hear or read. This assumptions can be correct or sometimes incorrect. Incorrect assumption can lead to conflict among individuals. There is a concept in written content which is known as literal message. A message which is being understood as per its primary meaning and not as per its metaphorical meaning is known as Literal message. In a literal message there is no scope for assumptions.
c) Sounds are associated with intense emotions by human beings. For example, if a person communicate with another person and cry simultaneously, then it is assumed that the sender of the message is in the state of sadness. This is often termed as hearing feeling.
d) A therapy which aims to help an individual who have sensory dysfunctions or communication disorder is termed as Therapeutic listening. It helps an individual with controlled sensory information. For example, a person with an exercise ball, who has been asked to roll back and forth along with the beats and sound of any music is a solid example of Therapeutic listening.
