A product owner plays a very important role in scrum development team .The roles of the product manager can be listed as follows:

• He/she is responsible to provide the facilities required by the development team for their works.
• Product owner is a major person who has a goal and he conveys this vision of the rest of the scrum team.
• He is the person who takes all the major divisions and acts as a communicator between stakeholders and the team.
• He is solely responsible for the products and has full authority to takes decisions.
• A product owner is also responsible to manages the backlogs which are to be handed to the development team and he is also responsible for certifying if the production is correct or not.

Now the second part of the question focuses on how a development team can reproduce an owner's role:

A development team does not receive any information about the production from anyone. It gains all the information fro the backlog itself.

A development team is cross functional so it can work efficiently to produce the products.

A development team does not require the product owner until there is an external client since all the works are done by the development team itself which makes it self sufficient.

The development team is a part of scrum team and can be held accountable for the production decisions.

Therefore, if there is no external customers with whom the product owner has to communicate then the development team can reproduce the role of product manager .
