Provide two different functional needs that muscle tissue within the body perform, and identify the muscle tissue type that is used to perform your identified functions (2pt)
Muscles in our body are of 3 types, broadly:
1) Skeletal musles
2) Cardiac muscles(Heart muscles)
3) Smooth Muscles
2 different functional needs that muscle tissues perform within the
body are:
a) Motion of our body/Mobility : Skeletal
muscles
This kind of function is performed by the muscle types which can
be controlled by us, consciously: Skeletal
muscles
Movement of bones happens in our body because of their attachment
to these skeletal muscles. Eg: Walking, moving our hands, head etc,
all these actions require skeletal muscles.
b) Digestion in the body: Smooth Muscle
This involves the food being pushed down the gastro intestinal
tract, unconsciously, by smooth muscles. which are
present in blood vessels and various internal organs of the body,
such as stomach and intestines.
Provide two different functional needs that muscle tissue within the body perform, and identify the muscle...

There are three different types of muscle tissue. List the three different types and tell me where you find them and what their major function is. There are three pathological curvatures of the spine. List all three with a description of each. Tell me why you think that having an abnormally curved spine my adversely affect a person's quality of life. 300 word minimum. Please have your initial post up by Wednesday and use the rest of the week to...
The Risk Executive is a functional role established within organisations to provide a more comprehensive, organisation-wide approach to risk management. This functional role requires a mix of skills, expertise and perspectives to understand the strategic goals and objectives of organisations, organisational missions/business functions, technical possibilities and constraints, and key mandates and guidance that shape organisational operations. To provide this needed combination, the Risk Executive (function) can be filled by a single individual or office (supported by an expert staff) or...
shows a microscopic view of muscle tissue. In the figure, structures called sarcomeres are bordered by ridges. The regular pattern of the ridges means that the muscle can operate as a reflection grating, and a measurement of the resulting diffraction pattern can give a measurement of the length of the sarcomeres, which is the distance between the ridges. This has been used to provide measurements of sarcomere length during exercise, as the sarcomeres lengthen and shorten. In one case, an...
2. Creatine is a substance normally found in muscle tissue. How is the function of creatine related to the use of ATP? (2) b. In general, what is the scientific reasoning for why creatine might/might work as a supplement to improve exercise performance (2) It is known that in adults over the age of 50, muscular strength declines due to loss of muscle tissue may contribute to a decreased ability to perform activities of daily living and increase the risk...
Identify disorders of erythrocytes (how they are grouped, characteristics etc.) Be able to identify the classes, structural characteristics and functions of leukocytes • Describe how leukocytes are produced - Be able to identify the structure, function and development of platelets -How is the formation of platelets regulated? I .- Identify the factors that are involved in hemostasis (ones that were discussed) • Describe the process of hemostasis • Be able to answer questions on blood typing: identify characteristics of ABO...
Vertebrates have many types of connective tissue that serve different functions within an organism due to their different mechanical properties. Which of the factors listed below can contribute to the tissue-specific structural properties of connective tissues in animals? Choose all that apply. The ratio of collagen to glycosaminoglycans The extent of crosslinking between pectin and cellulose.. The alignment and organization of collagen fibrils and fibers. The presence of minerals, such as calcium phosphate. Which statements about adult stem cells are...
Satisfactory a Unsatisfactory Complete this table with information about the interrelations between two different body systems. The first one has been done for you. Body system and function Body system Interrelationship Integumentary Cardiovascular: The cardiovascular system is responsible for transporting blood throughout the body. It works in conjunction with the respiratory system to help move oxygen throughout the body. The cardiovascular system controls sweat production. Reproductive Musculoskeletal: The musculoskeletal system incorporates two major systems: the muscular system and the skeletal...
