IT projects have poor success rate due to the following reasons:

First is No proper management. If there is lack of proper management in any kind of project then the project is most likely to get failed. Proper management of the employees as well as keeping any eye on the work progress will lead the project towards success. Second reason for the failures of the projects is the Bad Selection of Technology. Technology is changing very fast and improper selection of technology will lead to delay in the making and will indirectly lead to the failure. Third reason for the failure is the Shifting of the project objective. If the project objective has been changing too many times in between the work then the workers have to redo most of the work and sometimes it will lead to the creation of an undesirable product. Another reason is Poor Communication. Lack of communication between the team members as well the members and the manager will lead to project failure as the requirements won't be given properly and doubts can't be clarified. One of the major reasons of the project failure can be the Lack of time and attention given to the testing phase. If the project created is not tested properly or not tested at all then it will surely fail. Another reason can be the Lack of proper resource allocation. If resources allocated are not adequate then the project have a large chance of not sustaining in the market.

Strategies to improve IT projects success:

Management should be proper. The manager should make sure that his/her employees are working efficiently and deadlines are being met. This will lead to the completion of project on time. Technology to be used should be decided very carefully and the employees must have knowledge about it. If the technology is unknown to the employees then they should learn it to efficiently complete the project. Also the interaction and communication between the team and the manager should be increased so that they can talk about the requirements and problems. Resources should be provided in proper number so that the project can be lead to success. And most importantly testing must be done properly. Without testing the project is never complete and to make it thrive in the market proper testing is necessary.
