Which protein would you LEAST expect to contain cysteine?
A. Hemoglobin
B. Chymotrypsin
C. Insulin
D. a-keratin
Chymotrypsin is least expected to have cysteine.
As cysteine is a non essential amino acids, it is mainly require as nucleophile in enzymatic reaction and in the formation of disulfide bonds.
Cysteine is present in keratin as an important constituent, in hemoglobin, cysteine has a structural role and in insulin also it forms disulphide bridges.
If you find this useful, please give a thumbs-up :)
