Answer #1

Yes,there has been redesign of business process at a hospital in which Hospital implemented a Organization wide EHR system in place. This redesign was focused on removing process of manual data entry and Help staff like nurses, administrators, doctors etc to use Electronic health record database for providing high quality patient care. This system also remove cost of paper, storage of files etc .

The things went right during redesign process that Hospital's management did diligent research in market to find right vendor for EHR because EHR implimentation was worth millions dollar cost so right vendor for such redesign was important. Hospital hire consultant for this redesign. another right thing Hospital did that Hospital communicated this change to all people like nurses, doctors, supervisors, managers about this new redesign change so that they can know what benefits this redesign will bring.

The thing which went wrong in redesign process is that after implementation of EHR system in hospital. staff and other doctors start to face difficulty in its use. This system was meant to reduce work and pressure from the staff but nurses who were new and old as well facing difficulty that how they can make entry, what codes are required, how to reterive past data of patient, how to transfer diagnosis to doctors etc.the main problem for this that company provide 1 hour tutorial video for employees to learn about this system EHR.

If i was in this redesign process then i would use demo class, hire experts from vendor side who would come to hospital and provide live training session because employees tend to learn less and get bore from tutorial videos while live session from expert solve thier issues right away.

Proper training is very important if there is radical or continuous change in an organization. This would help organization from risk of failure because implementation of million dollar EHR system and not know how to use is failure which training can solve that.
