Organizational culture is a set of common perceptions, values and beliefs that control the actions of individuals in organizations. Such shared values have a strong influence on the organization's people and control how they dress, behave, and do their employment. That organization is creating and sustaining a unique culture that offers standards and expectations for the actions of the organization's members.
Types of Organisational Culture
The Clan Culture- Through partnership, this culture is embedded. Members share commonalities and see themselves as part of an active and involved large family. Leadership takes the form of mentoring, and responsibilities and values bind the organization. Teamwork, collaboration and consensus are embedded in the core principles. Tom's of Maine, the manufacturer of all-natural hygiene products, is a popular clan group.
The Adhocracy Culture- This culture is based on imagination and energy. Employees are encouraged to take chances, and members are regarded as innovators or businesspeople. Experimentation keeps the company together, with a focus on individual creativity and independence. Change and durability are the key qualities.
The Market Culture- This culture is based on competitive dynamics and concrete results are obtained. The focus is aim-oriented, with hard and demanding leaders. The group is united by a common goal for all competitors to achieve and defeat. Market share and profitability are the main drivers of value
The Hierarchy Culture- Structure and power are the pillars of this society. The working environment is formal, with specific administrative supervision procedures in place. Leadership is based on coordinated planning and control, with productivity and predictability emphasized in a society. Consistency and uniformity are the standards.
