the assigned topic is "The Meaning of Social Control". Describe one way in which the selected reading has contributed to your understanding of the complex meanings of social control, deviance, inequality, and stratification.
Social control is a way through which a particular society controls its citizens through the social norms and laws. This would mean that this control would differ depending on the social stratification and inequality which would lead few people to engage in deviance. Thus, people who are expected to pursue goals without any means to achieve those goals would feel stressed and would look to deviant ways to achieve those goals. As conflict theory suggests that the society is in a perpetual conflict for the limited resources available where social order is maintained not through consensus but through dominance. Thus, social control would be normally done by the majority and would dominate the minorities.

One way in which the useful metal copper is produced is by dissolving the mineral azurite, which contains copper(II) carbonate, in concentrated sulfuric acid. The sulfuric acid reacts with the copper(II) carbonate to produce a blue solution of copper(II) sulfate. Scrap iron is then added to this solution, and pure copper metal precipitates out because of the following chemical reaction: Fe(s) + CuSO4(aq) + Cu(s) + FeSO4(aq) Suppose an industrial quality-control chemist analyzes a sample from a copper processing plant...
