Emerging infectious diseases are defined as those resulting from newly identified and previously unknown infections which cause public health problems either locally or internationally .

Examples:-

  • Influenza A
  • Ebola
  • Lassa
  • Aida
  • Lyme disease
  • Marburg

Re - emerging diseases

Re-emerging infections diseases are defined as those that are due to the reappearance of and an increase in the number of infections from disease, which as known but which had formerly caused so few infections that if had no longer been considered public health problem.

Examples:-

  • Cholera
  • Maleria
  • Kala Azar
  • Enteroviruses 71
  • Mumps
  • Staphylococcus
  • Streptococcus
