What are your thoughts regarding a person's self-efficacy and the role it plays in developing innovative work behaviors?
Self-efficacy relates to a person’s self-control on his/her motivation and tasks. Basically, it is the capability of a person to control his/her temperament, mood, and discipline. This particular attribute is focused on task and processes and their schedule.
On the other hand, innovative approaches require radical thinking. Naturally, developing innovative work behavior cannot happen if the person follows strict rules. This means if someone has high degree of self-efficacy, then he/she will likely follow a disciplined behavior. As a result, there will likely be less innovation or opportunity.
Thus I think a person’s self-efficacy level reduces the potential to develop innovative behavior.
