Following are key cultural theories, models, and frameworks

  • Hofstede Culture Model (1,2) – Hofsfede has identified six dimensions that shows the culture on the organization/nation as Power distance, Individuality, Masculinity, Uncertainty Avoidance, Long Term Orientation and indulgence.
  • Denison culture model – This model focus on four key traits of the organization like adaptability, involvement, consistency and mission
  • Human Synergistic Culture Model – they talk on the twelve behaviors and thinking style of individual and organization and that show the culture.
  • Trompenaars Culture Model – This is the culture model that links international cultures. It is helpful in cross culture communications. IT has main four aspects as Incubator-fulfillment oriented, Family–power oriented, Eiffel Tower-Role Oriented and Guided Missile-Project Oriented.   
  • Deal and Kennedy Culture Model – This model focus on the market place factors that shows the culture for the organization. The risk associate with organizational activities and the speed of the feedback from the market on organization’s actions.

We believed that Hofstede’s cultural theory/model/ framework is the strongest among all, as it has been accepted widely.

The benefits of this cultural theory/model/framework –This model explains the top six dimensions that helps to identify culture of the organization and based on that one can easily compare the different cultures at the between nations.

The drawbacks of this cultural theory, model, or framework – The drawback for this model is that it do not have any standards for this six parameters and this six parameter are based on the judgment of people. This does not have any minimum standards limit for each of the six culture parameters.

HR professionals can assist in creating a culturally diverse workforce through understanding this cultural theory/model/framework by reviewing each of the six dimensions in their culture and can easily compare their culture with others.
