A mosquito is south bound on HWY 61 travelling at 0.1 m/s.  A north bound semi-truck travelling at 30 m/s runs into the mosquito.

Answer #1

force exerted by mosquito on truck

F1 = (momentum of truck - momentum of mosquito) / time

F1 = ( MV - (-mv)) / t

F1 = ( MV + mv) / t

force exerted by truck on mosquito

F2 = ( momentum of mosquito - momentum of truck) / time

F2 = ( - mv - MV) /t

F2 = - F1

so, yes, mosquito exerts same force as truck exert it on mosquito just in opposite direction
