This study investigated the extend to which adolescents played video games show high levels of aggressive behaviors when compared to those who did not. The sample for this study consisted of 1004 British adolescents and  between the age of 14 and 15 and the data were obtained regarding their recent gaming experiences. The data analysis from multiple regression analysis showed that there was no relationship between playing violent games and violent behaviors.

Prescott, A, T., et al. (2018). Meta analysis of the relationship between violent video game play and physical aggression over time. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.

This study analyzed 24 research studies conducted on the relationship between playing violent games and aggression. All these studies together consisted of over 17,000 participants belonging to different nationalities and ethnic groups with the mean age group of 9 to 19 years. Results from statistical analysis indicated that playing violent video games is associated with greater levels of overt physical aggression over time.

Though it was a long held belief that playing violent video games is associated with violent or aggressive behaviors, recent researchers have proven that there is no sufficient evidences to support this claim.
