Yes, I think the resource-based view of organizational deficiencies can be a helpful strategy to overcome the barriers to success and better performance of the organization. When an organization adopts a resource-based view, it willing to self-evaluate the resources it has at its disposal. From the available resources, an expected performance report can be produced which would allow the company to know how much productivity can be achieved from the current set of resources being used at their optimum best.

This data can help the company in understanding whether it is utilizing its resources to the best of its ability and producing results should have been a norm with the resources it has. If not, then why not? These questions would help the company in moving forward and get it ahead of the competitors as it tries to strengthen its resources to compete with the others in the industry.

Yes, I do agree with the view that the resource-based view of organizational deficiencies can be a helpful strategy to overcome the barriers tosuccess and better performance of the organization. The resource-based view (RBV) is a model that sees resources as key to superior firm performance. If a resource exhibits VRIO attributes, the resource enables the firm to gain and sustain competitive advantage. RBV is an approach to achieving competitive advantage that emerged in 90s. According to RBV proponents, it is much more feasible to exploit external opportunities using existing resources in a new way rather than trying to acquire new skills for each different opportunity. In RBV model, resources are given the major role in helping companies to achieve higher organizational performance. RBV holds that sustained competitive advantage can be achieved more easily by exploiting internal rather than external factors as compared to industrial organization (I/O) view. While this is correct to some degree, there isn’t definite answer to which approach to strategic management is more important.
