Using Starbucks Coffee as an example, make some recommendations based on theory learned how to improve the organization.

Starbucks has always been successful in all ways as results shows its engines of growth are spinning. The more the company is expanding in every ways and some of the ways the operations could be enhanced are as follows:

1. With the increase in the training period of baristas, their standards could be elevated. The more they would feel owned towards the company. Report says that the current 21 to 25 hour training is not necessary as remembering the beverage recipe isn’t sufficient to be an effective barista.
2. Increasing the loyalty of the customers towards the store is also how a business will excel. During peak times, it seems that the waiting time spend by each customer in the line is a negative to the efficiency of the employees. That problematic situation must be overcome by the use of more efficient technologies in the billing functions.
3. More digitalized solutions must be found out in the order taking, order processing and payment in order to reduce the wait times.
4. The baristas must be rewarded more according to their performance. Individual rating of the baristas should be taken from the customers whom they are attending and an appraisal system must be brought about. The current compensation system is somewhat in alignment to how many the competitors are paying, but that need to be raised for an efficient work force.
5. Increase the awareness regarding the things that Starbucks do for the society. They share their profits with some of the community stores and encourage local volunteering.
6. Reduce the number of licensed stores. If a licensed store is being operated, there shouldn’t be any compromise in the standards of the product that we receive from there, be it any part of the world. Instead of catering poor service in large quantity, focus on best service in lesser number.
