Answer #1

Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis focused on bringing out people’s unconscious mind to consciousness and cure them from their mental illnesses. Freud belied that repressed feelings in the unconscious mind was the cause of all the problems. He also believed that most part of a person’s thoughts and emotions are buried in the unconscious mind which comes out in various behaviors. Carl Rogers on the other hand proposed humanistic psychology along with Abraham Maslow in which he suggests that it’s a person’s environment that is mostly responsible for a person’s thoughts, feelings and behavior. He introduced client centered therapy in which he suggested to show unconditional positive regard to people and accept them as they are. He focused on here and now rather than the past. He also believed that everyone can self-actualize and achieve greater heights provided they get a right environment.
