Answer #1

Besides producing sugar for itself, a plant also needs to absorb nitrogen to build proteins, salts to make concentration gradients, and:

potassium to make enzymes.

phosphorus to make ATP.

chlorophyll to carry out photosynthesis.

starch to power the cells.

pyruvate for fermentation.

Ans:

All are correct.

1.Potassium is required for enzyme activation. It is reported that Potassium activates more than 60 various enzymes. Potassium also helps to neutralize pH and maintain required pH levels as required for chemical reactions.

2. ATP is Adenosine triphosphate and considered as energy currency of the cell. Actually it’s structure is nucleotide with adenine base attached to a ribose sugar, which is attached to 3 phosphate groups. To make ATP, phosphorus is required.

3. Chlorophyll is green pigment in chloroplasts of plants where photosynthesis is carried out. Chlorophyll is necessary to convert carbon dioxide and water, using sunlight, into oxygen and glucose. Without chlorophyll organisms cannot prepare food by photosynthesis.

4. Energy is stored in starch by plant cells. The broken down starch produce energy which is utilized for functions of starch.

5. Earlier to fermentation process, in the initial step a glucose molecule breaks down into two pyruvate molecules which are further used for next steps in fermentation.
