Pattern is replica of the product to be cast . It's duplication of product what we gets in foundary by pouring molten metal into mould cavity. Cope and drag is essential components in foundary technique. In foundary patternmaker decides where and when to use the sprue, runner ,riser in mould cavity. These are placed respect to mould cavity and produce the hole after pouring the molten metal into it. The design of gating system or hole patterns is done by manually or in some cases it is designed by using software called AutoCAD. Engineer who is concerned about pattern makers will eventually looks upon design of pattern.

Dowetail and slots =

In foundary the cope and drag box is used for produced the casted parts.generally to align and two joint two sides of box dowetail is used in foundary..since dowetail joints does not require the screw and dowel to joints.
