The body of the jellyfish is made up of a non-living jellylike substance called mesoglea. This jelly is surrounded by a layer of skin that is just one cell thick. The body of the jellyfish is mainly made up of water. The jellyfish does contain the water tight integument so that the water does not enter the delicate parts of the fish and make it impermeable. On the other hand it is basically composed of 90% of water.
