Cadmium and chromium will both react with Sodium hydroxide to form a precipitate.In both equations, Na+ will not be involved in the reaction and act as an intermediate species and will not appear in the net ionic equation.

a) Cr3+ (aq.) + 3 OH- (aq.) Cr(OH)3 (s)

b) Cd2+ (aq.) + 2 OH- (aq.) Cd(OH)2 (s)
