I'm doing a lab that involves the separation of Group I, II, and III cations. I'm not entirely sure how to answer this question, and an explanation would be great!

1. Briefly explain why it is possible to re-precipitate AgCl(s) by adding HCl to [Ag(NH3)2]+ ion but not by adding ammonia to [AgCl2]- ion. Write appropriate equations to support your answer.
