In the plant B. jankalski, two genes control the synthesis of pigment in the flower petals. A homozygous B. jankalskiplant with green flowers is crossed with a homozygous B. jankalskiplant with yellow flowers. All the  F1 plants have green flowers. When the F1 self-fertilize, the F2 generation plants have green or chartreuse or yellow flowers in the ratio 12:3:1.

A) Draw the biosynthetic pathway for these flower pigments, indicating where the two genes act.

B) State the genotypes for all three phenotypes.

In sweet peas, two genes (genes A and B) control flower color. The dominant alleles of both genes produce enzymes that function in the biochemical pathway shown to convert colorless precursors to a purple pigment. The recessive alleles do not produce enzyme. Therefore, at least one dominant allele of both gene A and gene B are required for purple flowers. Answer the questions about this biochemical pathway. 2. (6) An experiment was done to determine the linkage relationship of three genes in Arabidopsis, one affecting leaf shape, another flower col our and one affecting sepals. Homozygous plants that have smooth leaves, yellow flowers and fused sepals are were crossed with homozygous plants that have serrated leaves, white flowers and unfused sepals. The FI plants resulting from this cross were all phenotypically serrated, yellow and unfused. These were test-crossed with homozygous plants that were phenotypically smooth, white and...

In a different plant species, flower color is controlled by two genes that contribute equally to the final flower color. Plants with red flowers have the genotype: CRCR DRDR, while plants with white flowers have the genotype: CWCW DWDW. A red flowering plant was mated to a white flowering plant and all of the F1progeny had pink flowers. These pink flowered F1 plants were allowed to self-fertilize to produce F2progeny. What is the genotype of the F1 plants that produced...

Two genes of flower, one controlling blue(B) versus white(b) petals and the other controlling round(R) versus oval(r) stamens, are 1000 map units apart . You cross a homozygous blue-oval plant with a homozygous white-round plant. The resulting F1 progeny are crossed with homozygous white oval palnts, and 1000 F progeny are obtained .
