What are some reasons for employers to have strong guidelines for employees when it comes to wellness?
Focusing on employee wellness helps the employers to reduce the stress levels of the employees and increase their efficiency and productivity in work. The guidelines set by employers on sleep requirements, BMI, sobriety etc helps to ensure that the employees are taking care of their health which will help the employer to reduce absenteeism and increase productivity. The employees work under high stress in current industries and many of them follow unhealthy food habits, smoking, alcohol consumption etc. All these practices will affect their health badly and the employers may lose their highly skilled, efficient employees which leads to significant economic loss for the employers. If the employer starts wellness programs, most of the employees may not avail the benefits if they do not set strong guidance regarding employee wellness. Hence wellness programs should be selected and conducted by the employers carefully to ensure positive outcomes out of these programs. There should be strong guidelines to ensure better utilization. Some of the requirements that should be met to avoid punishment or rewards would motivate the employees to focus on their health and make the best use of the wellness programs available.
