Periodic Table has 7 horizontal rows and 18 vertical Columns.

Vertical columns are divided into blocks and then groups.

The horizontal row of an element tells highest shell number in which any electron is filled.

The elements vertical columns defines the number of valance electrons.

Blocks of vertical columns define the subshell in which last electron is filled.(eg. s-block, p-block, d- block).

Group of an element define in which orbital last electron is filled.(eg. Halogen group, Nobel gas group)

Rows and columns together will give electronic configuration of an element, and thus will indicate all the chemical properties.
