2.Define SNMP, briefly discuss the single most important difference between SNMPv2 and SNMPv3, and explain how this difference is achieved in the protocol that supports it.
SNMP stands for Simple Network Management Protocol is a layer of protocols which are used for network manahement and monitoring. Many devices support these protocols some of them are routers , servers etc. There are different versions of SNMP.
Single most important difference between SNMPv2 and SNMPv3:
SNMPv3 has cryptographic security while SNMP v2 has normal but complex security.
SNMPv2 authentication was weak now as time passed. After few years the version 3 was released SNMPv3 which was secured as it was said that if you are not using SNMPv3 you should upgrade to the latest version because of the failures were arising which could possibly lead to a fatal attack. There were many new upgrades one of them were In SNMPv2 it have a simple password sharing but in SNMPv3 they modified a new and enhanced security parameter system, which protected your infrastructure.
