An engine working on the constant volume cycle has a compression ratio of 6 to 1 and both the compression and expansion are according to the law pv1.3 = const. The conditions at the commencement of compression are, pressure 0.98 Bar, temperature 323 K. The maximum pressure at the end of constant volume combustion is 29.0 Bar. Assuming that the working fluid is air, estimate:

a) The mean effective pressure.

b) The heat supplied per Kg during combustion.

c) The heat passed to or from the cylinder jackets per Kg of air during both compression and expansion, stating the direction of flow in each case.
