Case Study: Housing NSW Housing NSW is an agency of the Department of Family and Community Services that is responsible for the provision and management of public housing services with the aim to prevent homelessness in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Housing NSW provides a range of services including public and community housing, housing for people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, support services for people with special needs linked to government and non-government agencies, private rental assistance and subsidies, advice and assistance for home-buyers, the development of affordable housing, community regeneration, and development and regulation of social housing policies. “Our vision is a simple client experience, where modern technology and straightforward processes empower staff to deliver great client service and enable clients to choose how they interact with us and manage their own information”. Imagine that you are the system analyst in the initial stages of the project. The projects aim is to build a system ‘MyHousing’ that will allow clients to submit applications online, clients can apply for housing assistance or make a change to their application, quickly and easily. This service is available 24/7. It enables clients to upload supporting documents and confirm identity and income information online. Client application forms are then integrated automatically into back end systems, significantly reducing administrative tasks. Note: This is a real project, so there will be many sources of information available for you to research. This MyHousing project is actually complete and in use, however, when you are completing this assessment and writing the vision document assume the project is in the early stages and the system has not yet been built

1: Introduction

This document outlines the vision for the NSW “My Housing’ system.

1.1 Purpose: Clients can submit housing applications Online and follow it up till closure 24/7.

1.2 Scope: Housing NSW provide range of service including Community housing and housing related assistance. The software should help clients and NSW can track each application and modify based on the inputs .My housing system will enable Housing NSW to collect all documents digitally and verifyThis will enable faster tracking and approval of housing related services.

2. Problem Statement:

The existing system has difficulty in managing documents and delivering client services at a faster pace.A successful solution would be straightforward process using modern technology to deliver great client services on click of a button.

3.Product Features

3.1 Ability to submit request using web application.

3.2 Customer onboarding should be done as a first step to capture the clients details.

3.2 Once the request is verified and validated a unique Housing Req Number will be generated and will be communicated to the client through email and SMS

3.3 Ability to upload all documents digitally using My housing system, for each client.Uploaded documents will be saved in My Housing Database.

3.4 Client can any time request for the application status , modify the request using the unique Req Number

Manual validation of identity proofs and income details should be done by staff before uploading these documents
