If you had to pick what ethnic group you currently identify with right now, what would it be and what points of advantage and pride does this bring you? What struggles does it bring?

If I had to pick the ethnic group I currently Identify with right now, It has to be Asian American.

Pride I take being an Asian American are :

• Asian Americans are viewed by many as the success story of American education.
• Generally Asian Americans take pride in ancestry, It is a healthy concept that can be communicated in healthy, ethical ways.
• In USA, Asian Americans have the highest level of postsecondary degree attainment regardless of economic background.
• Asian-American students outperform their classmates by almost every measure, earning better grades, scoring higher on standardized tests, and graduating college at higher rates.
• Asian Americans have more access to resources like higher-quality public schools, supplemental educational resources (e.g., SAT prep), and communities that reinforce high, and arguably rigid, standards of academic performance.
• East and South Asian American communities, although increasingly economically diverse themselves, set up structures in their communities to help turn aspirations into realities.
• Asian ethnic groups are over-credentialed with regards to education to achieve parity with whites in the labour market.

Strengths of the race would be:

• Strong work ethic instilled
• Achievement in academic and career
• Low levels of crime, violence, and drug use
• Greater levels of respect towards women and other people

Struggles and Disadvantages :

• Asian Americans of all ethnicities (e.g., Korean, Cambodian, and many others) encounter challenges in education.
• Asian American college students are more likely than Whites to consider and attempt suicide especially in the arena of mental health for many youth who do not fit the mould.
• Asian American experience hardship and institutionalized racism.
• People judge you based on the little information they have. There exists Stereotyping because there’s plenty of people who fit into them.
• Asian parents and grandparents are often blatant and obvious with superficiality
