What happens if management ends up spending too little of their attention on process management? Make some suggestions, based on the readings and any additional sources you’ve seen, for how an organization might be able to find the right balance between these scenarios.

Before starting with the consequences lets first understand the meaning of Process Management.

Process Management refers to the end to end process combining all the department of the organisation to achieve the common mission stated by the organisation. It being the cross cutting communication allows end to connection with all the series of department.

Every departments have their own Managers to lead their team. They are accountable for this end to end organisation process.

If we talk about process in term of Information Technology then it means a program running multiple times

Now the question is what if Management end up spending little time on this Management.

  1. The mission stated will not be achieved in time : When the Managers are not vigilant about their task they cannot commit the time frame as well. Their will be huge deviation in the end to end process. The Management will not be able to judge whom to make accountable for the loss.
  2. From the Prospective of clients they wont be able to find the right employee to solve the issue they might be facing. This may create the confusion and may lead to defaming the goodwill of the company.
  3. Use of excuses by the employee. For e.g. We ll let you know in sometime, My senior will be in better position to answer, we will call you back etc.
  4. Too much dependent upon outsourcing these management for proper flow of communication. This may create hindrance within the organisation and between the employees.
  5. If management is not concerned than employees too will not be concerned and they will end up spending time here and there or indulge in some unrequired or unnecessary work.
  6. Contingent happening can occur anytime because they are not well versed with the outline of project.
  7. The employees does not know their own authority i.e. whether to approve or handle the client case. For every time they need their senior to monitor them.
  8. The outsourced management also will not be able to give them result on time because of lack of communication.

Hence Management should be maintaining Eagle Eye on the tasks performed by the employee. If they spends too little or no time, the organisation will start making looses and then their will be position of layoff of employees in the organisation.Therefore to avoid the above consequences the Management should give proper time in process development and should follow the approach of mind mapping Working Break Down Structure.

If above are the consequences followed by the Management , the management aim at reducing this by giving more time to process development.

They can improve as :

  1. The first and foremost approach is to identify the areas we are lacking i.e. at what point we need improvement. For e.g. If we are getting higher cost of production we should the cost and raw material. If we are lacking in time we should monitor the time distributed to each task etc.
  2. Thereafter make analysis of the current way doing that task. Monitor them closely and pen down the process actually used thereafter compare with the standard process that should be used and analyse the deviation.
  3. After noting all the deviation assign the deviation to the department they belong to.

Hence this process is a bit time consuming at initial level. After this becomes in force then there will be proper awareness of the process management and there will not be any frustration , miscommunication and confusion in the Management.

The organisation can find the right balance in these situation by closely involving in the business process. There Might be requirement of top bottom approach but management might be following some other approach.

Therefore the Management should first make the standard process and than should compare the actual condition to follow out the deviation.
