How important is the role of KM communications director in a KM program? State your case.
Funding is always a problem for KM programs. What
argument would you use to justify the establishment of a community
of practice KM program.
The role of Communications Director in a KM program:
The communications manager in KM plays an integral role in
controlling , monitoring and dessiminating the vital and viable
information throughtout the organisation that might be required by
HR of different fields for specific purposes.
Communications Director by its very name refers to the person who
is entrusted with the job of making avialable the essential data as
and when required so that efficient use of that data is made. He is
entrusted with the responsibility of both directing as well as
managing of the various channels of communications as well as the
internal and external communication taking place in the
organisation. His main ficus is to evalaute the sort of information
flowing and ensuring that it is accurate, complete, reliable and
correct.
He is the one who has the authority to decife which data is to be
revealed to the personnel of KM program and which data nreds to
stay concealed.
He controls the flow of information of the KM program so that
confidentiality is maintained and transparency of accurate amount
is maintained.
His importance can be determined by the fact that his job
includes:
To ensure the flow of infomation or knowledge supplied to a
specific department is aligned to the Objectives and goals of that
particular department and is of vital use for that particular
area.
The communications manager also directs which information is
supplied to which area and whether it is encrypted and protected or
not.
He generates various types of data sheets , documents, briefings
and other reliable data sets to ensure data in implemeting KM
program faces no hurdeles or complexities
He is considered a lead in the matters relating to geneder sensitisation tools of effective communication that aimd at eliminating the gap between the opposite genfers and ensures equla authority and command over knowledge shared.
He also suggests the best channels of communication and
effectively implements the seven C's of communication to prevent
misunderstandings and controls HR conflicts and improves
understanding , coordination and smooth flow of activities.
He ensures best techniques are used while communicating change to
reach to the wide people thrpight the organisation.
He also provides training to the junior staff as how to maintain
the communication channel and contribute towards efficient KM.
He also being experienced and expert in his field provides advice to the managenent as how to handle KM program at a wide level through maintaining efficient communication flow between the members a d taking them into confidence.
He moreover provide communication support e.g the activities of editing, drafting documents and proof reading of files at all communication levels.
Thus he acts as an important position holder in the KM program
without whom KM cannot be efficiently done.
The argument that i will use to justify the essential need of a KM program is that knowledge management ways plays a role of making best use of the knowledge through making it available when required and recording it for neccessary future references or needs. KM program ensures confidentiality of information thus preventing data thefts, revealing of a idea, protection to the intellectual property and important data o the organisation. An egfective KM program will ensure each bit of viable data stays available in best condition and purest form without any fradulent changes or fake dressing so as to provide the real inferences about a situation or a project. A KM program also helps in comparing the trends of revenue so as to stay updated about the amount if progress made by the organisation. KM program ensures the management of Knowledge is made in the best of the manners to benefit organisation through reaserches done or external data collected.
KM program also is entrusted with the updation of knowledge to
keep it rekevant in the dyanmic world. It helps the business from
acts of forgery , frauds , thefts etc through preventing losing of
data , risk of disappearing etc. when the employee leaves the
organisation as all the data with him stnads recorded in a well
maintained portal.
Therefore funding in KM program yields much more benefits than
making investment in it in the form of protection, prevention and
control of useful data and increases tge chances of revenue
earnings , smooth fliw if operations and overall development.
Thankyou
Hope i explained well.
Please comment for any confusions , i will try best to clear
them.
