explanation

In both normal diffusion & facilitated diffusion, the particles move down the concentration gradient. Facilitated diffusion is a passive transport (no need of energy) of particles through special transmembrane integral proteins (note that carrier proteins are integral proteins). In facilitated diffusion, the molecules usually transported are glucose, ions of sodium & chloride etc. These particles are impermeable to the lipid bilayer of the plasma membrane.
