Question

In C im trying write a method where the int parameter is converted from decimal to binary and then adds up the groups of ones in the number, this is what I have so far. keeps failing for countGroups(0x80000000).
int countGroups(int num){
int count, one, rem;
count = 0;
one = 0;
while(num>0){
    rem = num %2;
    if(rem ==1){
        if(one == 0){
            count = count + 1;
        }
        one = 1;
        }
        else{
            one = 0;
        }
        num = num/2;
}
return count;
}
