I need help with the following question. Any examples and drawings as well as a detailed explanation will be most helpful. Many thanks in advance!

You should set up the depth of cut for each pass in an operation using the following rule:
A. Make as many finish passes as possible to get a good finish.
B. Take small rough cuts so that you don't wear out the machine.
C. Take as few cuts as possible yet as much as you can with the rough cuts.
D. Always make only one rough cut to reduce the machining time

See here option C would be most appropriate choice

While performing machining operation our concern is minimum Time and Good Finishing.

1-To reduce time we should give large depth of cut(high MRR) which results rough cuts and number of passes would be comparatively less, so here one problem is solved which is time consumption,so here time is saved, now come to the second concern finishing.

2-So to get well finishing we 'll give a last finishing cut of very less depth of cut to achieve desired finishing.
