Finding the mirror image of a candle. a converging mirror has a focal length of 2.4 m. Where should a candle be placed so that its image is inverted and twice as large as the object? Could you explain what the equations mean and what the plus or minus signs mean as well? please write as clear as possible, thank you!

image is inverted means magnification is negative

m = hi/ho = -q/p

= 2ho/ho = -(q/P)

q= 2p

apply mirror equation

1/f = 1/p + 1/q

1/2.4 = 1/p+ 1/2p

0.416 = 1/p ( 1+0.5)

p = 3.6 m
