Is there a getline() equivalent of ofstream in c++?

I am trying to read from a written file, but I get an error saying: no matching function to call to getline (outpulefile, mystring).

I had my program read from a file, inputfile.txt, make some changes to inputfile.txt and write the result to an ofstream file, outputfile.txt.

When I try to use, getline(outputfile, mystring) that is when I get the error. Is there an equivalent of getline() for ofstream that I can use to get strings line by line?

ofstream can not be used to read strings from file.
it can only be used to write data to a file.
if you want to read data from file, then you must use istream instead.
That is the reason why you are getting that error.
