Both clades make pollen grains that grow pollen tubes into ovules for fertilization.

Both clades utilize cones to store and protect developing seeds.

Both clades currently have approximately the same number of species on the planet.

Both clades have an extra layer of ovary tissue surrounding the ovule.

    None of the above.

With regard to moving materials throughout plants, the Xylem conducts ___________. Xylem tissue is composed of ___________ and _____________.

water and dissolved minerals ; sieve tube elements and companion cells.

organic nutrients ; sieve tube elements and companion cells.

Answer #1

1. None of the above

First option is incorrect because pollen grains germinate and give rise to Pollen tube on stigma of angiosperms which then grows through the style and not ovules.

Second option is incorrect because cone are present in gymnosperms but fruits are present in angiosperms.

Third option is incorrect because both the groups do not have same number of living organisms till date.

Fourth option is incorrect because ovary is absent in gymnosperms.

2. Water and dissolved minerals, tracheids and vessel elements

Xylem is responsible for the conduction of water and dissolved minerals. It is made up of tracheids, vessels and xylem fibres, all of which are dead and xylem parenchyma which is living.

Phloem is responsible for conduction of sucrose. It is made up of sieve tubes, companion cells and phloem parenchyma which are living and phloem fibres which is dead.
