Answer:

Myoglobin a molecule similar in function and related to Haemoglobin and is found in skeletal and cardiac muscles in all mammals.

Myoglobin has increased affinity for oxygen than Haemoglobin!

Hence the statement: "When fully saturated, myoglobin carries more O2 molecules than haemoglobin", is true among the above statements.

The higher than haemoglobin affinity for O2 of Myoglobin is due to several factors that include the proximal histidine group that binds to O2. Also once bound the structure of myoglobon changes and Fe2+ becomes Fe3+ superoxide and this affinity may make myoglobin better to hold on to O2 but at the same time it makes it a bad carrier of O2 as it will be difficult for myoglobin to give up the O2 molecule unlike haemoglobon that dissociates from O2 readily.

Which five statements about hemoglobin and myoglobin structure are true? Both hemoglobin and myoglobin contain a prosthetic group called heme, which contains a central iron atom. Each iron atom can form six coordination bonds. One of these bonds is formed between iron and oxygen. Heme is composed of an organic protoporphyrin component and a metal atom. By itself, heme is not a good oxygen carrier. It must be part of a larger protein to prevent oxidation of the iron atom....
