1) Bacteria can be classified based on their temperature requirements.
A) Bacteria which is spoiling food in the refrigerator are adapted to survive in cold temperatures. These bacteria are called psychrophiles.
B) Bacteria which live in hot springs are adapted to high temperatures( ~40°c to 120°c)These bacteria are called thermophiles.
C) Bacteria that cause human diseases are adapted to grow at nearly 37°c which is the body temperature of ours. These bacteria are termed as mesophiles.
2) UV light is used as disinfectant in hospitals, microbiology labs etc as it is cost-effective and takes very less time to disinfect. But UV light can be used only on inanimate objects as UV can cause skin damage, eye damage if living tissue gets exposed to it.
