A wildtype female fly ends up mating with a male carrying a Y-linked allele that causes antennapedia. If their F1 progeny cross, what will be the expected ratio of F2 antennapedia flies to wildtype? Would it be 100% or 50% or neither something like 25% or 0%?

It is given that disease is linked to the Y allele. That's why this is the case of Y linked inheritance. Let c allele encodes disease which is present on Y chromosome.

Now the genotype of parents are:

XX ( wild female) × XYc ( antenapedia male)

Punnet square:

Now there is found crossing between F1:

Parents: XX ( normal) × XYc ( antenapedia)

That's why there is found disease in two offspring out of 4.

The expected ratio of wild type to the antenapedia offspring is

(2/2 ) ×100=100%
