Risk management is identifying the probable risks that a project might face in the future and adopting various ways to mitigate these risks. A risk is an unwanted incident which might occur and badly affects the project or a business.

The identification of risks is important for the following reasons:

> When the risks and their impact is identified, once can prioritise them and accordingly make the action plan.

> Risks have a negative impact. Risk mitigation methods have to be developed to eliminate the negative impact on the project, business, etc. To develop these methods , one must first identify risks and vulnerabilities.
