An example of a successful organization that has successfully implemented a new strategy within the last ten years is IBM. The components that have made IBM successful is adopting a customer focused business model, reducing its organizational barriers for more connected teams, restructuring the organization to make its more flexible and agile and adopting standard operating procedures across its various units across the world. Reducing cost and improving efficiency of the processes was an important part of the strategy.

IBM successfully implemented a new strategy within the last ten years by changing their business model. Their was rationalization of its business strategy and functions to follow a more customer oriented approach. The company restructured by sharing its resources across various global teams. There is more communication and sharing of information for growth opportunities across the organization. IBM implemented required technology and skills experience for innovation, research and development. Development of skills and competencies as per the changing business and industry trends was given a key focus during the change process and implementation of new strategy. The company introduced cost rationalization and efficiency process to offer cost differentiation and competitive advantage to its customers. The role of leadership provided support and strategic guidance for transformation and change in organizational goals, processes and structure.
